The emo resurgence has arrived, digging its adolescent fingernails into Hangzhou via four-piece band autumngo (I’m pushing for Autumn Rush). On the softer end of the me rock spectrum, there’s a directness to the angst-ridden nevertheless starry-eyed melodies the resilient group have cooked up. And while their bedroom recorded three track EP may not be much to judge on, there’s an undeniable spring in their step that’s wistful and hard to resist.

Known as the ‘folk shaman’ of the Gobi Desert, troubadour singer and musician Wang Xiao, a legend among the folk and world music scene around China and beyond, gets the remaster treatment via WV Sorcerer. Released ten years ago, The Son of Black Horse River, takes the rhythmic richness of Central Asia (heard foremost in the musicians command of the dombra) and couples it with Wang Xiao’s symbolic and hauntingly gorgeous lyrics.
