Upcoming: 2014 Hanggai Music Festival

The Hanggai Festival has been one of the highlights of the last two years – a tightly knit curated festival that gives its audiences a diverse, intriguing lineup full of local and international talent over a long weekend. It may not have sponsors galore, short skirts, or be set inside a enormous park but in terms of world music, it can’t be beat. This year finds the 2014 Hanggai Music Festival at Dos Kolegas – so chalk that up as a big improvement over Mako Livehouse’s warehouse setting – cause if you’re gonna call yourself a festival having a grassy lawn definitely helps, especially considering they\’re planning on setting up a stage outside. Better still, the event will unfold over the Dragon Boat holiday, May 30^th to June 1^st – another plus. So cheap beer, loads of grilled meat, barefoot appeal, sunny lawns, and an incredible lineup including Japanese outfit Turtle Island, pagan metallers Nine Treasures, Spanish party animal La Pegatina and more —— yup, looks like another winner from Hanggai.
