What can I say? I’m a sucker for this kind of music – add in the fact, that yes, it’s straight out of Berlin – hell, you got me front and center at Yugong Yishan. In many ways this was my personal treat for surviving the holiday music onslaught and frankly, I didn’t even want to bother bringing a camera. But alas, I’m weak at heart and didn’t want to deny you, the beautiful people out there in the world, some of the goofiest, funnest, dance floor ready music out there – courtesy of Jeans Team and Pitchtuner.
Jeans Team started the night off with their infectious up-tempo club music hosted by the hilariously outlandish German duo, Franz Schütte and Reimo Herfort. As soon as these two stepped onstage I knew I was going to be in for a treat.
There really isn’t much to it, but therein lies the beauty. A phrase or two, the clashing of cymbals, some clever electronic tracks, and the antics of these two and you have the makings of some of the catchiest (even in German) tunes I’ve heard in some time.
How can you not crack a smile at them – almost makes me wanna start picking up German.
I remember catching Pitchtuner back in 2010 and having the time of my life. Boy, these kids have not aged at all. And though Yugong Yishan wasn’t packed quite enough to get the full effect, they put on a good show which brought back fond memories. I think they said it best back in their interview last year – it’s “club music with a rock n’ roll attitude”.
Funky guitars, some kick ass bass, and synths which screech and howl – yeah this is a two person party brought directly to my earlobes. And “Supersonic Ride” deserved (s) to be all over the airwaves here, there, and everywhere – what a sweet like piece of bubblegum pop.
A solid night of electronic bliss at Yugong Yishan – not more I can ask for – well, more please perhaps. How about another video of Jeans Team – you know where to click to get it
