Chinese reggae in Amsterdam, Texas post rock in Shanghai, and one of Beijing happiest go-lucky folk rock outfits bring the love – it’s time to put down the paperwork and let enjoy some fresh new music videos with cuts from Longshendao, Balmorhera, and Namo.

Damn am I missing Shanghai. The do-gooder brother of Beijing and the financial capital of China gets its due in this hypnotic beautifully shot video from filmmaker Luis Tapia and Austin, Texas instrumental outfit Balmorhea, who performed in Shanghai last November. Described as ‘a simultaneous exploration inside and out of our recent performance in Shanghai through the song \’\’Shore\” – the eight minute music videos takes place in the neighborhoods surrounding the venue whilst the band is performing, capturing the calm, alluring charm that can be Shanghai. Read up on this interview from AsiaSociety to hear how it was done. Seriously need to get to Shanghai already.

Campus rock sensations Namo, a band that has captured the hearts of 80s born young adults continue in the vein of their high-spirited, tongue in cheek, infectiously catchy melodies on their new single, ‘Fire in the Hole’ released of course, on April’s Fools Day. The MV is a exploration of everything that went into the song and music video, from the recording sessions, to the dance choreography, and even the live performance. As per usual with Namo’s music, it’s gonna plaster a whole smile on your face and you’ll likely be singing along by the end of the four minutes. There’s even a cartoon version of the song.

China’s premier reggae outfit Longshendao has long been making splashes overseas and their latest MV for the song ‘The Repetition of Everything’ finds them in the European capital of good vibes, Amsterdam. Shot during the bands tour last summer, the video depicts the band’s trip through the streets and canals of Amsterdam, before performing for a diverse group of listeners. And like that, I’m already missing Amsterdam too! Expect Longshendao to drop their new album later this month.
