How was everyone’s Chinese New Year? Missing the smell of fireworks igniting through the streets already? Well there’s always next year. Till then though, it’s business as usual, and that means another segment of MV Weekly, where we take a look at the latest music videos circulating the web. Here’s some new cuts from Shanghai electronic supergroup Future Gaze, Beijing husband/wife noise rock duo Dear Eloise, and film crew Geek Shoot Jack’s 2015 showreel.

Dubbed as ‘dubstep pop with epic synthesizers’, Future Gaze, the supergroup out of Shanghai featuring vocalist Sharon Q, drummer Daniel Nagels, and Clem on electronics, is posed to hit the Year of the Monkey in style and from the looks of their first music video for ‘Shine’, they’ve done just that. Shot by the mightily talented Alessio Avezzano of Live Circus, and directed by Zooey Zhang Qiaolin, it’s a tight, sexy, vibrant colleague of a painter getting the most out of her paint. Great use of slo-mo.

Dear Eloise, the guitar washed, shoegaze side project from P.K 14 frontman Yang Haisong and his wife Sun Xia, returned late last year with their latest bittersweet lo-fi beauty, Uncontrollable, Ice Age Stories and now they’ve got the visuals to match perfectly with their sound. ‘Brave New World’ pits the viewer in the front side of a ride along Changan Street past The Forbidden City and its neighboring landmarks, all blurred out and washed over with the band’s signature noise rock. Simple, yet effective.

One of the lead film crews documenting the scene and kicking all sorts of ass is Geek Shoot Jack. From music videos, to live shows – the guns for hire do it all, and do it good. They’ve compiled a nifty, jaw-dropping good showreel for 2015 just to show folks (and future customers of course) that they mean business. Some amazing stuff they got on film. And kudos for having Chinese Football provide the soundtrack.
