While your chief editor here is still frolicking in the derelict charm of Xi’an and being held hostage by his in-laws, I’ve decided to once again forgo this week’s weekly mixtape and instead pimp out two ridiculously awesome Chinese New Year mixtapes curated by pangbianr and Wooozy, two of the scene’s best hubs for what’s fresh in the capital and beyond. Josh Feola of pangbianr has cooked up \’Primate Anxiety\’, a \’two-hour mix of fresh China tunes\’ featuring the latest crop of indie bands to create a stir as well as a collection of b-sides, experimental jams, and electronic earworms to bask in.
Meanwhile, over at Split Works’ offshoot Wooozy.cn, ‘the first Chinese-language specialist web publications focusing on both underground and independent music in China and across the globe’, presents ‘The Sound of Young China 2015 Mixtape’, featuring 20 bands and artists from across China that’ll we’ll surely be hearing more about in the upcoming year. Love it.
