MV Tuesday: Lure, King Lychee, The Horde, DMC x CBCG

We made it!!! Thanks to everyone who came out this past weekend for Fake Fuzz Fest – it was a roaring success and had an absolute blast of a time. Gonna have to do it again soon so keep your eyes peeled. And now that my body has recovered, it’s time to get back into the groove of things. And what better way than with a late edition of our music video roundup, with fresh visual cuts from Lure, The Horde, King Lychee, and a promo video for this weekend’s upcoming CBCG Tribute show.

Digging the old school approach to veteran punk outfit Lure’s newest music video for their latest single entitled ‘Society Induction’. It’s lewd, more than a bit goofy, but put together with such grace and skill, and provocative glee, that I gotta give the band a pat on the back. And yes, that was a shot of used condoms, as well as television set playing scrambled porn. How this one slipped past the censors is beyond me. I think it’s safe to assume we’ll see Lure making some moves next year.

Shanghai contemporary bluegrass folk outfit The Horde have always been a tongue in cheek affair for me – talented, no doubt, but their music has always had this very self-aware humorous edge that I’ve appreciated. And that sensibility is front and center in the band’s MV for ‘Space Wars’, shot by Redscale Studios. I recall many of the musicians down in Shanghai gabbing on about the alien masks they had all acquired through the shot, and as evident here – looks like it was a total blast to make.

Beijing is no stranger to Hong Kong hardcore group King Lychee, who have hld the torch for Chinese Hardcore for years now. The band is on the cusp of releasing their newest album and to celebrate they have put out this nifty little music video for ‘Lost in a World’ – which gathers all of its band members over the past decade for a tracking shot rager. There’s even a guest appearance by New York City outfit Sick Of It All. Definitely feeling the global vibrations on this one. Well done kids.

Finally, to get all you little rascals here excited for the weekend, DMC has released this adorable lo-fi promo for their upcoming OMFUG Fest, a CBCG tribute show that’ll be going down this Saturday, December 20th at DMC. Ten bands paying their respects to the famous NYC venue and the bands who cut their teeth there including Iggy Pop, The Ramones, Dead Boys, Television, Patti Smith, Talking Heads, New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders, Devil Dogs, and more. Whoa. And best of all, it’s free. Should be a hoot.
