- The avant-grade festival returns for the fifth time showcasing the some of the experimental scene’s most prolific characters performing original ‘compositions’. Go for the onslaught on humanity that is harsh noise duo Torturing Nurse – stay for the other offbeat surprises from an array of artists on the fringes, including Yi Yin and MAI MAI out of Shanghai and Liu Wei-Chih out of Taiwan. Li Dong EP Preview (Nov. 7th at DDC)
- Nangjia-raised, Beijing-based folk rock outfit Li Dong, one of the scene’s most beloved bands and one of the last remaining remnants of Dos Kolegas’ glory days, return to the stage to preview their latest EP, expected out next year. The band, led by the charismatic Li Xia, skyrocketed to acclaim last year, when lead singer was featured on the Voice of China. Expect a packed house. (50/60 RMB)

- Does the prospect of a debauched Johnny Cash cover band entice you? Well, that’s what you’re gonna get. A band that has claims to massacred each of the master’s ‘go to’ songs and drink themselves into oblivion, don’t expect your usual cool dad covers band.
