Upcoming: Painkiller Fest 2012

If you’ve ever been to a record store here in Beijing, I’m sure you’ve noticed Painkiller Magazine. Very much like the VHS horror movies covers of yesteryears, my eyes are always drawn to the red, black, and fantastical dark images conveyed on their covers. And while, I’m still just scratching the surface of the metal scene here in Beijing, I immensely respect what it has done for the city thus far, and enjoy the hell out of it each chance I get to see some (Suffocated literally killed it last week at Temple). With 12 years behind their back, and still going strong Painkiller is throwing a birthday bash double whammy – one that starts this weekend and then will continue the second week of November. They’re gathering some of the biggest international names, as well as rounding up some of the city’s heaviest, loudest, bombastic bands to give shows that will surely be talked about for months after. Here’s the Painkiller Fest 2012 schedule.
