Hang on the Box head into the studio and a new motely crew of mischievous videographers called Too Either perk my interest in Beijing – here’s your weekly music video intake.

Various Artists – Too Either

Youtube

There’s a new rag tag videography team in town and I’m digging their style. Whilst lo-fi in nature, the team who go by the name Too Wither, made up of Sidan and Laoyu, more than make up for the low quality footage with an free wheeling innovative editing style that mixes the live footage with clips of films (Gong Gong Gong gets mashed up with The Super Inframan) or the bands various other captured moments (Boiled Hippo adds some of their studio time into the mix). It’s sporadic, fun, and builds its own rhythm each time through resourceful editing. In a time when live sets are so profusely captured, it’s nice to see someone giving it a fresh spin. Add their Wechat (TooEither) or hit up their QQ Video Channel and dig in.

Hang on the Box挂在盒子上 – Oracles

Hang on the Box, the seminal all girl punk rock who have spent the better part of the last decade going through one rebirth after another, give listeners and viewers a taste of their direction with this studio take of their lead single ‘Oracles’ produced by legenardy Mark Reeder (who also produced Stolen’s most recent EP as well). Airy guitar riffs, coupled with psychedelic-tinged synthesizers and other electronic flourishes, the band have matured quite a bit from their feisty beginnings here with Gia bringing out her melodic side quite a bit.
