Canadian artist Ember Swift is an internationally touring musician and songwriter, and founder of the independent label Few’ll Ignite Sound. Originally from Toronto, she has spent the past few years making her home base in the magnetic city of Beijing, China. She has released 10 albums and 1 DVD project since 1996 and continues to have a loyal fan base across many national borders. “11:11” is her 11th album, aptly named because it was released in November of 2011, her 11th in ‘11.
These past three years, Ember and her husband Guo Jian (lead singer of China’s reggae band “Long Shen Dao”) have welcomed two children to their happy family. In January of 2012, Ember gave birth to their daughter and in December of 2013, another baby arrived, this time a boy. This kind of musical family is definitely special. Mom and dad both perform and sing. Perhaps in ten years the world will see the rise of a new cross-cultural family band hailing from Beijing! In 2014, Ember also was invited to participate in the Dragon TV reality show called “Super Diva” and she went straight to the finals, finishing 3rd across the entire nation of China. This fully proves that (even though she is a foreigner) she is also one of China’s most talented spouses and mothers!
Ember’s band, assembled in Beijing, includes America’s Alix Morris on the drums and France’s Philippe Mege on the bass. Also featured on several songs is China’s Wang Ya Qi on the erhu. They are four people who come from four very different parts of the world but who have chosen Beijing as their current homes proving, once again, that Beijing is truly a global magnet.
Styles include jazz, gypsy, rock, funk, pop, folk and blues as well as lyrics in both languages. 50 RMB
