The 9th Mars en Folie Music Tour
As a flagship event of the 2016 Francophone Festival, Mars en Folie (March Madness) is a celebration of French music presented by four Francophone countries and regions, including the Alliances Françaises network, the embassies of Canada, Switzerland and Belgium / Wallonia-Brussels Delegation, and the Québec offices in China. Four talented music groups will be performing on stage and showcase the charms of French chanson to the audience, opening a new chapter of French music in China.
The Francophonie Festival is a showcase of diverse French cultures from all over the world and presents to greater society how they interact with each other through a common language. Such an experience of cultural diversity is precisely what the organizers wish to bring to French language and music aficionados in China.
At present, world peace, a common cause of all human beings, is still facing challenges and threats. The organizers believe that the development of diverse Francophone cultures is a forceful means for us to be free from ignorance. As a window looking directly into human emotions and expressions, music is a powerful medium that it can reach the depths of the human soul. On the other hand, French, as an elegant and elaborate language, is a well- positioned tool to express the most complex human thoughts and feelings. Combining the French language with music, Mars en Folie makes its own attempt to nourish and promote the ideal of peace. Thus is not only a set of concerts, but also a platform for sharing cultural and human values among French language and music aficionados.
The 2016 Mars en Folie will be a spectacular event, presenting more than 30 concerts in 14 cities from March 10th to the 25th. From indie pop, pop, punk, jazz to rap, a diverse array of music will provide a sensational and thrilling experience. At Mars en Folie you will encounter a brand new stage, frenetic rhythms, and a dazzling array of sounds and lyrics. There is indie pop music, romantic and philosophical music, from Nicolas Michaux (Belgium / Wallonia- Brussels); ballroom punk chanson from Fabian Tharin (Switzerland) that rebels against traditions with unique melodies and lyrics; Babel (France) who moves between jazz and rap with a genius touch of sounds and words; As well as Félix Dyotte (Canada/Québec), who infuses endless elegance and grace into pop music. All will bring a burst of energy to the music scene of March.
We sincerely welcome you to the more than 30 French music concerts presented by Alliances Françaises network, the embassies of Canada, Switzerland and Belgium / Wallonia- Brussels Delegation, and Québec offices in China. Four groups representing pop, punk, jazz and rap will be performing on stage and bring you an exceptional experience of French culture.

Fabian Tharin [Switzerland – Ballroom punk chanson]
More information: www.fabiantharin.ch
Fabian Tharin has an incredible gift for writing and, without a shadow of a doubt, is one of the most original and surprising artists in Switzerland’s music scene today. With his unquenchable thirst for discovery and experimentation, he astonishes and seduces the audience with his out-of-the-ordinary creativities and is an adept at deconstructing, stone by stone, the foundations of French chanson as we know it. With the fourth album that radically transgresses all codes; the singer from Yverdon, Switzerland has encouraged a horde of authentic rebels to lend their voices to the various tracks in the album. His very singular writing style is the perfect foil to his hip-hop rhythms. A live performance you simply must not miss!
Nicolas Michaux [Belgium – Wallonia-Brussels / Indie Pop]
More Information: www.nicolasmichaux.net
Nicolas Michaux, Belgian singer from the industrial city of Liege, lives now in Brussels. These last years, Nicolas has traveled from Denmark to Congo via Montreal. His music is inspired by all the people he met, many of the landscapes he saw and every city in which he lost himself. His songs talk about love, happiness and light. These songs are also about the disfigurement of the world and all the forces that oppose it. He works as a craftsman, finding in each place and in each musician a new way to make it. On tour in China, Nicolas Michaux will be accompanied by Clément Nourry, unparalleled guitarist who is also a multi- instrumentalist and has performed in several musical projects like Joy as a toy.
Babel [France/Chant-son Électro]
More Information: http://www.letourdebabel.com
In the spring of 2010, the quartet band, Babel was discovered at the Terrain Neutre Théâtre (TNT) in Nantes. Far from conventional, Babel has a free-spirit style unlike a traditional quartet band. With their singing and instruments (guitar, cello, keyboard, and turntable) wonderfully harmonized, the artists go beyond traditional musical methods to deliver a surprising debut album. Slammés or sung, their texts collide in a universe located at the crossroads of jazz and hip-hop.
FÉLIX DYOTTE [Canada – Québec / Elegant Pop]
As the person who was behind the success of several music groups in the 21st century (The Undercovers, The Stills and Chinatown) and also collaborated with important musicians (Pierre Lapointe and Jean Leloup) from Québec, Félix Dyotte presented his first pop album that sings the ups and downs of intricate love stories with extraordinary elegance and grace. Through expressive melodies, this young singer-songwriter will take the audience to an enchanting world of music.
