Well, here it goes I guess – if you’ve check in on my interviews with Friend or Foe and Eatliz then you probably already know this is the weekend to see some great, intriguing out of town bands. And if not, well, there’s more than plenty of locals acts to go around – so gorge yourselves, you sick sons of bitches.

FRIDAY

The JUE Festival ends this weekend, so what better way than to go out with a bang. Tonight over at Dos Kolegas, they’re bringing Shanghai trip-hop group AM444 along with multimedia MC/producer ROMsounds pretty damn groovy to me. At Yugong Yishan, lovely Taiwanese folkstress Summer Lei brings her award-winning delicately jazzy voice to Yugong Yishan. Want some more from Shanghai – over at the Hot Cat Club, Death to Giants who were described as “crazy jazz rock” play alongside Reloadz. Buyi, I guess afraid that if they stop playing for one weekend they’ll lose their mojo, continue to kick ass and chew bubblegum over at Jianghu Bar tonight. Korean punker The Strikers are in town – they play over at Mao Livehouse with Larry’s Pizza, PB33, and Summer Sunshine. Next door at Temple, Jungle MICO is making their rounds for their usual drum ‘n’ bass party. A whole slew of hard rock bands will be making their way down to Mako Livehouse including the Red Pirates, Jacky Danny, Abominati, Rock Rhino, and Red. Need some more Swedish death metal – well Tango has you covered as they bring in Dark Tranquility for the night. Sunny Song and Summer Breeze will take it easy over at Blue Stream Bar. And finally, you can catch Jia Hui Zhen and Bruno at the Old What? Bar.

Mao Livehouse is hosting some of them most explosive metal and punk bands in town including Army of Jade Kirin, Logic Control, and SAW. In part of the Francophone World Festival, Mars En Folie, which consists of four groups of Francophone beats, will showcase their sounds at Yugong Yishan. On the lighter end of things, there’s Rolling Bowling at Temple to put a smile on your face and Blaque & Blunt, along with 8 for some old school rock at the Hot Cat Club.

SUNDAY

JUE closes its doors this year with help from Israeli art rock band Eatliz who will play with The Devil Music Ensemble from the US – looks to be quite the show at Tango. The Dong Chorus continues to hop around Beijing with the lovely Wu Hongfei & Happy Avenue – tonight they stop at Mao Livehouse
