Namo at Mao Livehouse (Nov. 20th)
Cross talk folk rock outfit Namo, whose Chinese culture harping, 80s nostalgia, traditional Instruments, wordplay lyricism mashup of styles has won over countless fans apart of the 80s generation. Ningxia Musicial Showcase at Mako Livehouse
Once again proving that Mako Livehouse is the spiritual offspring of Dos Kolegas, the venue (newly located in Gongti) has put together a hell of lineup full of Western China flavor that would got right in at the ol\’ 2K including Ningxia folk rock veterans Buyi, prog fusion rockers WHAI, blues journeymen Wu & the Side Effects, the new Li Dong, Funky, Seven Deadly Sins, and more. School puts away the gin and breaks out the whiskey for some of that old Irish folklore as Blackwater takes the stage for some knee slapping tunes from Iceland. FREE
Sleep Party People at Yugong Yishan
Danes know weird. I\’ll give them that. And Sleep Party People puts a whole like of weird into their dream pop in the form of its sole benefactor, Brain Batz donning an adorable bunny mask during their sets. In all honesty, sounds like some very nice down tempo electronic pop music with shoegaze tendencies 120. RMB
The Power Powder, Funky Monkey, VirusBase at DDC
Metal, blues, and rock and roll converge upon DDC for a mashup of styles and fun courtesy of Funky Monkey, VirusBase, and The Power Powder. Nice to see DDC handing over the place to new voices. 50 RMB
Horse Radio at Jianghu Bar
Inner Mongolians rookies of the year, Horse Radio, conjure up the sounds of the grasslands and then some with a intimate performance at Jianghu Bar. A band that delivers on all fronts and isn\’t afraid to dip their toes into other genres. 80 RMB

The Beijing Underground – a leading online Facebook portal for all that is music in China takes it offline once again for a day and evening of solid eclectic tunes featuring the likes of Djang San (the head honcho of Beijing Underground), hard rock demi gods Nakoma, an abridged version of Horse Radio, the observant angst punk folk styling of Little Punk, the electronic shenanigans courtesy of Charm and Noise Arcade, as well as Orange Bud and J 个, two names completely new to me.
