The weekend lineup is packing quite the punch, so tape up those hands, cause it’s decision-making time !!
Let the Hedgehog frenzy begin
Thursday
Not too many happenings tonight, but still enough blood in the water to draw some in. Mao Livehouse continues its reign of hardcore rock, bringing in Dutch band No Turning Back, with support from Unregenerate Blood, Return of the Truth, and XitneverhappendX. D-22 gets off to an early start – Fuzzy Mood, Little Fast Hand, and The King’s Gun play. Lastly, DJ Crush hopes to continue Yugong Yishan hot streak of discjokery.
Friday
Hedgehog is on tour again, and December might be the last month to catch them before they embark on recording their new album – so head to Yugong Yishan to see what they’ve been up to. Support by Fuzzy Mood and Spacebitch. Check out one of their new songs below. Across town at D-22, will be the Beijing release of split EP “Summer and Winter Warfare” from Shanghaiers Boys Climbing Ropes and X is Y, which has been on repeat all week on my iTouch – they will be welcomed by Streets Kills Strange Animals and Me Too. Mao Livehouse takes things down a notch, as indie rock group DISH bring their album tour to a close with their melodic poppy tunes. Likewise, over at Dos Kolegas, SUBS singer, Kang Mao, joins Zhang Si’an for some electro folk, along with Old Yang and Old Crow – intriguing indeed. Finally, chart-topping Mark Schulz will be keeping the beat going at Tango.
Saturday
Second chances, second chances – catch Boys Climbing Ropes and X is Y again at Yugong Yishan with support from favs Residence A. Pangbianr will host the afterparty at Old What? Bar bringing with them Alpine Decline, Chui Wan, and more experimental acts. Speaking of which, Zajia Bar behind the Drum Tower in Gulou is looking to turn itself into a safe heaven for experimentalists – and after a talk with one of the owners, it might be time to jump down that rabbit hole – Jun Yuan, Li Tieqiao, and others take the stage. Mao Livehouse goes back it what it does best, hosting some of the hardest and heaviest bands in town with the help of King Kong promotions to release their second compilation album. Finally, rockers of sorts will descend onto D-22 for some fun – including Devils at the Crossroad, Flaming Heat, Red Pirates, and Power Powder.
Me Too steaming ahead
