Weekend Update

Missed a lot during the first round of holidays? Well, make up for it these next couple of weeks before the city goes on lockdown. Better yet, get to D-22 as much as you can before their doors finally close for good. Here’s the round-up…

Friday

Folk comes in many forms at Dos Kolegas tonight with Ajinai, cooler than ice Li Dong, and the southern-brewed Randy Abel Stable. Head to 13 Club, for their usual night of metal mayhem as Raging Mob, Saw, Crack, and others take stage. Mako Livehouse hosts cheery mellow folksters Wang Pao & the Midday Sun. Only a few more concerts left at D-22 – so check out baijiu-fueled punkers Bedstars, Reloadz, and Trouble Trouble. Zajija Lab continues bringing top quality experimental acts – Li Tieqiao looks to impress with his saxophone. And if you haven’t heard, high school nostalgia rears its ugly (or handsome) head, as Simple Plan plays to invade Yugong Yishan.

Saturday

See Residence A up close and personal at D-22, with support from You Xi and Cassette. Things get appropriately heavy with A.J.K, Joker, and Providence G at Mao Livehouse. Xiao Wang Bao and others hosts another folk session at the Old What? Bar. Rastas can find providence at Dos Kolegas for their monthly Reggae Night. Local folk singer and writer Zhou Lei debuts his album at Jianghu Bar in Gulou. And finally, Yugong Yishan is hosting what is being dubbed Underground Rebel Bingo Club – could be interesting.

Sunday

Metalheads never rest – so head to Mako Livehouse for their Nuclear Weapons Night with Violence Pretender, New Tank, The Lifeless, and more. Finally, Yugong Yishan will be bringing three old-school popsters, Hao Du, Yang Jiasong, and Luo Bing, with the addition of a female songstress to form the New Gang of Four.
