Upcoming: Modern Sky Festival

Modern Sky just couldn\’t hold their horses until October to throw another festival – oh wait, scratch that – since they will be shipping the festival over to NYC come National Day holiday, they\’re throwing a farewell summer festival this weekend in the south end of Beijing. Located at Changyang Park off of the Fangshan Line (got to by taking Line 9 to its tailend) the Modern Sky Festival takes place this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 29th-31st, the festival promises more of the same with the addition of several international acts such as Finnish hard rockers HIM, California avant-grade outfit Xiu Xiu, New York dance punk Liars, and more. So if you already checked out Strawberry Festival earlier this year – you have a pretty good picture as to what to expect Nevertheless, still plenty of great acts throughout the three days – enough to warrant a visit for sure. I\’m a bit of a greenery nut so I\’m more curious to see what the venue looks like, and to a further extent what the hell is down in Fangshan.
