OTS: Djang San, december3am (Yugong Yishan 26.05.2016)

In case some of you have been wondering why the site has been quiet the past ten days well we took a little vacation — but now we\’re back on the grind so expect lots of updates including more coverage from last month, new reviews, and of course, a big ol calendar update

French raised Beijing embedded singer and multi-instrumentalist Djang San let loose late May with his latest release (his 52nd!?) – Ai.l – a double album which continues the artist\’s world building and grandiose blending and reinterpretation Western and Chinese musical tropes. Heady stuff perhaps but with a hefty amount of psychedelica and rock and roll gusto alongside some stellar guitar and pipa/zhang ruan work, Djang San and his ever growing band is first and foremost a hell of a good time.

Am I right? Opening for Djang San this evening at Yugong Yishan was december3am – the drum and guitar duo formed from the ashes of Inner Mongolian trope Horse Radio – who might I add, absolutely knocked it out of the park, going as far as blowing up my ear sockets for the utmost time. Gonna keep a very close eye on these two – expect to see them on a LBM bill in the near future. More pictures and videos below.
