Cat AIDS has a pretty funny idea of how to celebrate Christmas – Blade Runner scene readings, bass dragging, and a bombardment of blood curling noise that would make Saint Nick blush. Yes, Christmas came early this year as the demonic, feline-diseased noise blitzers paraded about School Bar with their big red bag of tricks and gifts.
And as usual in the season of giving, the band brought along a socking full of Beijing’s top acts, including the infectious buoyant indie rock outfit The Twenties and post punk freight trains Lonely Leary – both giving solid, invigorating performances. If that wasn’t enough, the night also gave audiences the special gift of T6 – the power duo of Ding Chenchen and thruoutin – whose ‘sheet metal’ experimental set was the perfect (relatively) digestive to a magical evening.
