On The Scene: Jia Huizhen 06.12.2013

Couldn\’t resist – pulled double-duty again which saw me swinging by XP first to pay my regards to the Lantern Festival album release. While there I was able to check out Jia Huizhen, who’s been mostly MIA this whole season. And looky looky, looks like the electro popstress has picked up a guitar in those absent months.

Not content to just hang behind the mic, the duo seem to be looking to inject their performance with a little more vivacity. Heck, like Chen Yao is even sporting some new equipment. And I’m for one, am all for it. Rock forth.

Really though, this was a rejuvenated Jia Huizhen – everything about the performance was fine tuned and precise. Better transitions, slicker production, and a more prominent stage presence.

It’s clear they have been quietly working behind the scenes embellishing their sound – let’s hope they catch their big break soon enough.
