News, Releases, Yada Yada Yada

My burner computer whose prime exstinence was to upload videos onto youku has finally given up on life. So yup, probably no videos for a few days, unless what of you lovely readers out there has another second rate PC which I can take off your hands. Alas, no more fretting – instead I\’ll kill time giving you the latest in releases – first off with what\’s fresh in hip hop and rap scene with The Triadz, Wordy Soulspeak, and New Street.

Let\’s first dip our toes into the world of hip hop – which never gets enough love here in Beijing. Trap music fans might want to check out this EP drop from The Triadz, a Beijing-based collective of rappers. The EP entitled The Rich Dreamz is a tugged out piece of work, full of gangsta synths, plenty of drops, and crisp vocals which wouldn\’t feel out of place in Hot \’Lanta. It\’s pretty awesome, with a lot of credit going to the top notch production from Chronmaster and Soulspeak. Take it for a spin here. How bout that lap dance

Speaking of Soulspeak, if you missed it, the LA-born producer and hip hop figure has once again joined forces with three-time DMC DJ Champion Wordy under the aptly named Wordy Soulspeak to release their latest compilation of head bopping beat-making original instrumental hip hop. Let The Rhythm Hit is chalk full of sexy, retro, classy yet hard hitting beats which make your ayi shake loose. Grab it over here, and get an eye on these two.

Another of China\’s most popular hip-hop collectives New Street (新街口组合) headed by MC Han and Song threw a release party over at Yugong Yishan a couple weeks back for their latest mixtape entitled Sinister Gang which is available for purchase here and download over on their douban page. Though not as bombastic as it could be, there\’s a lot to like here, and if you\’re any bit interested in seeing what the hip hop scene has to offer, grab this bad boy.

Back again tomorrow with what\’s new in the electronic market. And hopefully another computer. Sigh.
