Salty Tomorrow 明天的盐 – 明天的盐
Wangnian’s Wisdom Teeth with the more melancholic and stark compositions seen in his solo work, Salty Tomorrow hit the sweet spot between reflective indie rock and panic-ridden infectious post punk on their self-titled debut. Engaging listeners with their rich sincere lyricism before thrusting them forward into a jangly off-kilter arpeggio that allowing the songs to swell into a whirlpool of catharsis, it’s never too sweet, never too sour. And while its pop sensibilities and clean production both refine and deflate the band’s momentum building arrangements (more than one song creep steadily close into wistful Carsick Cars territory) there’s no denying the conviction and musical ingenuity at hand here.

Established earlier this year in the bustling and raising ‘Star City’, Changsha’s Early Park have a damn good grasp on what kind of sound they’re aiming for – brisk yet nimble indie rock coated in thick layers of dream pop and noise pop. Very much like its album cover, the young band paint their world in warm-hued colors, or better yet, the glow that dusk brings, casually waltzing between adolescent exuberance and wistful daydreaming with a forwardness that’s refreshing. There’s a seamless agility to the tracks that feels fully formed, despite the band’s infancy.
