Higher Brothers – One Punch Man
As part of 88rising, Higher Brothers have become the most recognizable musical representatives of hip-hop in China across the globe which has lead to a swirl of hype surrounding their recently released sophomore release Five Stars, which is brimming with collaborations with an array of top producers and international artists. One of the standout tracks is the newest single “One Punch Man” with Ski Mask the Slump God and Denzel Curry. The music video (or visualizer whatever that means) for this track takes inspiration from the anime it is named after, with an urban edge to it, as our titular characters roams around gentrified LA and rustles some feathers.
DATINGLive Series
Seems studio recording session are definitely going to be a big thing. The latest series is bring some of the indie scene’s favorite acts into the spotlight is DATINGLive – from the hip folks over at incubator AFDT. The concept is simple enough – bring in a band into a ramshackle homey space – warm them up a bit with some banter and then let them kick one a tune or two for audiences. There’s really nothing else to it – but I must say I dig what I see. A laid back charm from both the interview portion and the live sessions, captured with ease and not too many bells and whistles (nice cameras and recording equipment certainly helps too). But I’m in – more please.
