Elenore 埃莉诺 – Midnight Adventure 午夜历险
An unintentional embarrassment; a purposeless search – just a few of the outcomes that may bestow Elenore’s protagonist in ‘Midnight Adventure’ – the Beijing indie rock band’s new single off their forthcoming album. Shot in the hustle and bustle of the nightlife – the music video follows a never seen character through the neon-soaked streets of Beijing, focusing on the blinding lights, crowds and signals leading her across the city. Accompanied by the mandolin, accordion and guitar work as well as the melancholic lyrics – the evening has a bittersweet sting to it that feels just right.
Nencol – Lovesick 譬如相思
Electronic composer Nencol based in Guangzhou, known for fusing ethical music elements with jazz and neo soul music, dropped off this romantic ditty over the Mid-Autumn Festival. Inspired by composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto (of Yellow Magic Orchestra) and German glitch maestro Alva Noto – double bass, piano, strings and more reverberate as colors and patches of light across the digital landscape (very much looking like one brain’s neurons shooting off) created by designer Jilemi. Very cool stuff.
