Alright, before the internet implodes due to Star Wars (we don’t get it until January 9th) perhaps it’d be best to divert one’s attention from the onslaught of comments, spoilers, and tears of fans with a trio of videos sure to keep you distracted. For at least ten minutes. Here’s the latest music videos to not be Star Wars, including a gnarly fresh cut from Cat AIDS, a tropical tour of Phuket in Huzi and Edo’s latest, and a cheeky, light-hearted anthem from J个.

Rivaling the stop motion efforts of Wallace and Gromit – Cat AIDS have really outdone themselves on their latest glass of lemonade, ‘Sugar Ape’, a doll-tastic exploration of three men’s egotistic/masochistic views of themselves. Or maybe I’m reading too much into it. All I know is this looks like it was the most righteous thing to make ever – boys playing with their action figures. Throw a cat into the mix and you’ve got the makings of a bonafide hit here. Check Cat AIDS in all their glory this Sunday, December 20th at School.

If you’ve ever been stuck in a haze in southeast asia then the music video for ‘Crossroad’, produced by Pet Conspiracy mates Huzi and Edo, will definitely relate to you. Filmed with a selfie stick and a gopro, the video is essentially a hotel grounds tour of the duo’s recording digs during the making of Island. And while the tropical settings are of course lush and tranquil, there’s a muggy, laidback, suffocating tranquility that envelops the video and fits in just right with the song. Dude faceplants a giant leaf right before the two minute and fifty second mark for crying out loud and doesn’t ever bat an eye. Oh, Thailand.

‘Hailing from various countries across the globe’, punk pop outfit J个(Zhege) are the latest expat-heavy band to mix pop culture, Chinese lyrics, and irreverent 90s era funk pop for audiences and from the looks of it, are having a swell time. Their first single ‘So Fashion’ (a term widely used in China) hits upon all the latest trends in China, as well as an introductory Chinese lesson, and while the word corny comes to mind, there’s something so boisterously good-natured about these cats that I gotta give them a pass. Cause we are sooo fashionnn.
