MV Monday: Wang Wen, Ego Fall, Daydreamer

Alright, while my body may be on a plane somwhere, my heart is still in Beijing – so while I\’m gone I\’ve prepared some posts to keep this site chugging along – so expect lots of goodies to pop up over the course of the next few weeks as well as some guest writers popping in to give their two cents. Pretty sure it\’s still Monday so he\’s the latest batch of videos to soak in including a extravagant piece of animation from Dalian post rockers Wang Wen, and upcoming tour promos from metal outfit Ego Fall and indie pop trope Daydreamer from Shanghai. Get at it.

Frigging goosebumps people. That\’s what I get when I watch the latest MV for Wang Wen\’s \’The Last Journey\’, a track from the Dalian post rock legends\’ latest album Eight Horses. This piece of art contains more than 5000 oil painted hand made drawings and is a result of 1 year of intense work by Jiang Kun and his team at the Lu Xun Art institute. Mighty impressive – love the juxtaposition between aviation of the past century as well as some very specific nods to some great cinematography from films like The Aviator, Gravity, and more. But really, comes down to the artwork which again is simply astonishing. For you lucky Beijingers, get your asses over to Yugong Yishan this Friday and see what the fuss is all about.

Mongolian-infused metal outfit Ego Fall celebrate ten years and kicking ass and taking names the only way they know how – with a epic throwdown at the one venue where mosh circles can extend well beyond a five meter diameter – Tango. Yup, this Friday at Tango, Ego Fall crushing it. They\’ve put together this cute lil promo to show us folks they mean business. Yeah, looks like they\’ll need the space.

Shanghai indie rock outfit Daydreamer whom recently poppd up on my radar thanks to TheRealScottishMike in Shanghai, just kicked off a nation-wide tour to promote their newest EP, and I like what I hear thus far, melodic, youthful and genuine. To accompany their tour, they\’ve released this nifty piece of promo work that is really well put together – probably the sexiest Yuyintang has looked in some time.
