Nasty Wizard Recordings were in for the long haul last Saturday with an epic, never ending lineup of electronic wizardry, hosting some of the scene’s most inspired, most offbeat, and more often than not intriguing electronic producers – a feverish mix of drones, ambience, hard techno, experimental, and straight up noise to celebrate the latest release – a split between Singaporean collective (((connection_error))) and Beijing’s own Liquid Palace. Speaking of which, the ragtag team of intergalactic noise heads, who fall somewhere between the A-Team of electronic mischief and the Marx Brothers of audio dissonant, went the full nine yards – friggin love it. Joining them were Shanghai’s Gooooose, bringing his playground of glitch, ambient, and industrial sounds, Shanghai’s Hei Mu, continuing their two day residency. On the Beijing front supporting were pedal pusher Noise Arcade, hard techno walloper Far Infinity, and possibly my favorite, the statically blissful ambient duo XY Pattern. Yeah, a full card – and one that went well into the early hours of the next day. Be sure to snag your Liquid Palace/(((connection_error))) cassette if you haven’t already.
