Halloween Tribute Festival Night 1 万圣节向经典致敬 – Yuyintang 育音堂 2021.10.24
Now in its 16th year, the annual Halloween tribute show went down last weekend – with Shanghai musicians across a spectrum of genres dressing up and performing as an array of iconic rock acts of yesteryear. While I was on a personal Halloween hiatus sans a cape that I ‘borrowed’, I do truly get a kick out of the meticulously planning and musical preparation that goes into these parties, particularly for the bands, who really give it their all.
It’s cheeky, it’s woozy, and is exactly the kind of Halloween party I can still get behind. Friday night was a hell of a ride – with everyone from Joy Division (Hangzhou post punk outfit Salty Tomorrow living out their dream) to Radiohead making an rad appearance.
But really, I came for The Talking Heads, a band Ive been obsessed with since freshmen year at college and haven’t looked back since. So yeah I was in heaven for a blissful thirty minutes – a high I’m still reeling from mentally and physically. Halloween has done me in again. Guess I wouldn’t have it any other way.
