As we inch closer to the weekend, it’s time to take a look at what Sunday has to offer at the Fake Fuzz Fest. And we’re going all out with ten bands performing over the course of ten hours at DDC. Things kick off at 12 pm, yup noon, so no sleeping in. We’re be providing the brunch courtesy of Miss Museli, Cuju, and Parwaaz as well as the exhibitions (check over at AWEH for a roundup of the artists) but I’m here to walk you through the music side of things. So without further a due, here’s the Sunday lineup:
Sunday December 14th
12:30-1:30 Feeling of Regret
The minimal electronic/ambient drone project from me:mo and Edoardo Gagliardi. Think lush soundscapes that’ll worm their way into your head whilst the haze of Saturday withers away. The perfect start.
1:30-2:30 thruoutin
An artist who’s been killing it for years now – from dance hall samples, to ambient field recordings, even wielding a pipa when necessary, it’s always a treat to see what the electronic artist has up his sleeve. Rumor has it he’ll be bringing a drummer.
2:30-3:30 Noise Arcade
A man who needs to introduction – he’s only released like a gazillion albums this year alone. The ambient drone heavy artist conjures up trance-inducing layers of sound that will have you tripping your shit.
3:30-4:30 Alpine Decline
One of my favorite bands on the scene – guitar and drums duo usually bring the fuzz and buzz but today they will be giving a special modular synth performance which is supposedly all kinds of crazy. Can’t wait.
4:30-5:30 Nakoma
Now it’s time for some hard-hitting post rock with a fetish for metal. It’s harsh folks and full of crunch. Instrumental tunes that’ll shake DDC’s roof.
5:30-6:30 Gum Bleed
Perhaps my top pick of the day – long standing anti-establishment punk outfit Gum Bleed give a super duper awesome acoustic performance. Can’t tell how excited I am for this one.
6:30-7:30 Fuzzy Mood
One of Beijing’s overlooked bands – shoegazey indie rock group Fuzzy Mood, led by Ai Han, whose sultry voice packs a mean punch and provides the basis for the band’s unique sound
7:30-8:30 Me Guan Me
Speaking of bands who have just about fallen off the map. Indie rock kids Me Guan Me return late this year after being missing in action for a good year or so. And I couldn’t be happier. Simple, tight, melodic indie rock that gets you moving.
8:30-9:30 The Harridans
One of this year’s success stories, the behemoth of a band, led by the one and only Dan Taylor, the biggest man whore this side of town, is a trip into psychedelic prog rock that’s utterly intoxicating.
9:30-10:30 The Eat
We end on an up and coming indie rock trio that’s been inching their way into the limelight this year. Truth be told, I’ve only seen them once. But what I heard more than convinced me that we’ll be hearing more than them next year.
That\’s it folks!!!!! Get fuzzed this weekend!!!
