While we might have missed out on the onslaught of festivals October is shaping to be quite the month for events out of the ordinary. Two that haven’t been seeing much press are the Tiny Dream Music Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday at the MOMA Mountain Art Space Center while the Music Moving Sanjianfang Festival will unfold over Saturday off of line 6 at Dalianpo (that’s the one near the Communications University). The formers’ lineup is full of cutesy, folk pop acts that\’ll surely impress that date with a lot to like here – The Randy Abel Stable, Bloody Woods, and A-Si, as well as Kulu and Good Sister who have been cornering the female market (my old roomie keyboards for Kulu) the past year with their direct, laid-back lyric-driven music. So yeah, perfect date material. Over at Sanjiangfang, the music leans toward more traditional (i.e not pop) folk with a goo chunk of the lineup featuring Beijing’s expat talent, including the crazed Frenchmen Djang San, Blackwater, and Dolan out of Mongolia. Looks to be modestly relaxed setting, which combined with the free price tag and park setting looks too hard to resist (bundle up for sure). Check out more details, including the lineups, below.
