On The Scene: Dos Kolegas 09-11-2013

Part two of my Oceania music encounter – my made a long overdue visit to Dos Kolegas to catch Melbourne-based new wave pop punk outfit Witch Hats. And though Dos Kolegas was surprisingly empty, the foursome managed to provide listeners a wallop of finely tuned garage-wielding, sneering rock and roll which China loves so dearly.

These guys vibe. It’s clear they’ve been playing together for years and while it was clear they didn’t want to bother (really, a poorly filled 2K is grim indeed), there’s just natural chemistry between these guys. Someone bonked someone else’s girlfriend at some point.

A lot of influences there, mainly from the new wave rock revival that the new century was founded in, but still, when’s it’s done with this much confident cock bulging fun, it’s hard not to just sit back and let the good times roll.
